Royal Gold Coco Tips and Tricks
Grow a Better Garden with Royal Gold Coco
INSTRUCTIONS
How To Use Royal Gold Coco
Rooted cuttings should be started in small pots (4-5 inches). Begin feeding immediately after establishing the plant into a larger container. Established plants should be fed a complete nutrient system each feeding.
In Recirculating hydro systems, flush Royal Gold Coco with pH balanced water to eliminate discolored debris. Transplant cuttings into small pots 4-5 inches. Flood and drain or top feed once daily. As the plant grows the frequency of feedings can be increased to 1-6 feedings a day. When plants are well developed and growing vigorously, transplant into larger containers. Vigorous plants respond well to 6 waterings daily.
In hydroponic systems smaller pots can be used than in conventional growing systems. One gallon pots in ebb and flow or top feed systems will support a larger plant size than conventional growing techniques. Nine to sixteen, one gallon pots, in a 4x4 tray with 2.5-3 foot plants are common.
In conventional gardens that are hand feed, 3- 5 gallon pots are often employed. Feedings will be delayed 3- 5 days at a time. Farmers in this tradition will often let the pot dry out between feedings. Consistency in watering, environment, and pH will yield the best results. Always check pH. Always monitor nutrient levels in the medium, and reservoir. Maintain an average nutrient level above 1200 ppm in reservoir if feeding constantly. High nutrient levels can be employed with care. Be careful not to over feed. Follow the manufactures directions. We have seen great success with Advanced Nutrients, Cutting Edge , House and Garden , Pure Blend as well as hand made nutrient concoctions.
Basement Mix can be used in any soil-less application. It was originally developed on a drip system feeding once a day into a run to waste system. Any complete organic or refined nutrient will render superior results. While we have seen every type of watering system used in conjunction with Basement Mix, top-feeding with a hose and “wand” is the most prevalent method. Basement Mix works excellent in beds and containers of all kinds.
The best method, follow this procedure and you won’t go wrong!
POTS:
Take a well rooted cutting and place it in a small 4 inch pot. Fill to the rim with Basement Mix. Add enough water to wet the surface (approx. ½ cups). Place under 18-24 hours of light (1000 watt at 5 feet from plants, 400 watt at 3 feet from the plants, fluorescents at 1-6 inches). Feed with a pH balanced complete nutrient system. Begin feeding immediately at full strength when plant reaches 12” tall.
Transplant into larger pots after plants are well established. Let the Basement Mix dry between feedings. If you water the “root ball”, not the pot, watering will be every 2-3 days. If you saturate a 3- 5 gallon pot, watering will be delayed to every 4-7 days depending on climatic conditions. Watering cycles will increase as the plant grows. Under normal conditions, waist high plants in three to five gallon pots will need to be watered ever three to five days.
The Basement Mix works well with most popular fertilizing schedules such as Cutting Edge, Advanced Nutrients, or Pure Blend. The Basement Mix is stronger than the average soil-less mixes; however it is designed to be fed on a regular basis with a full complex nutrient program. If you are heavy handed with your feeding schedule, 10%- 25% runoff is recommended. We have seen great results from professional gardeners in beds. In non-draining beds a lighter feeding schedule should be followed. As always, correct environment (75 degrees and less than 40% humidity) as well as your lighting is crucial to success.
RECIRCULATION SYSTEMS:
Basement Mix can be used as a Hydroponic Mix, however some special care is required.
Flush enough water through Basement Mix to eliminate any debris. Take well rooted clones and place in small pots with Basement Mix. Water once daily with a balanced hydroponics nutrient solution. After the plants are well rooted, 3- 6 waterings a day. Check Ph daily. Water frequency depends on size of container, size of plants and root mass. Many growers water once a day with a top feed system. However In 5- 6 inch pots, flood and drain 6 times a day works well. Many flood and drain users have great success by letting their mediums dry between watering. In this type of “dry farming” hydro systems larger containers perform better than smaller pots.
In wicking systems, allow the Basement Mix to hydrate thoroughly. The Basement Mix will require more watering than pure coco systems, however superior results will be seen.
Organic Hydro Systems work best by allowing the medium to dry out between feedings. This will translate to 2 – 3 feedings a week depending on the container size. Reservoirs are often emptied after one week of use. Experienced organic hydro professionals tell us they treat the basement mix as any other hydro mix and water 3 -6 times daily.
How To Use Mendo Mix
It is common to fertilize the Mendo Mix weekly and biweekly with a complete nutrient system. Feeding twice in veg and 3 or 4 times during flower is common also. Mendo Mix is compatible with all fertilizer supplements. A flush of 3-4 weeks of plain water at the end of flower will produce the finest product. At least give 10 days of pure ph balanced water at the end.
Many Gardeners prefer to use the Mendo mix to supply all the organic nutrition to their plants. The sweetest tasting fruit can be achieved by using water alone. However the highest yields have been achieved by using supplements with veg and bloom enhancers.
The Mendo mix conserves water. Outdoors you will find your water needs decreases by at least 20% in some cases more. Indoors Mendo Mix will need to be watered every 5-7 days until it is root bound. Heavily rooted plants will need a higher watering frequency.
